Firefighter Rehab During Prolonged Incidents/Training
Designed to help Fire Departments meet the requirements of Ontario Section 21 Guidance Note #6-12 on Rehabilitation, and NFPA 1584.
As Fire Chief's are no doubt aware, there are expectations that we take all reasonable precautions to protect our firefighters, who are tasked with performing high hazard work in challenging conditions.
Ontario Section 21 Guidance Note 6-12 speaks about the importance of medical monitoring for fire department members during emergency responses. The NFPA 1584 Standard on the Rehabilitation Process for Members During Emergency Operations and Training Exercises (2015) goes into detail with requirements to provide medical monitoring with recommendations for specific vital sign monitoring as well as general assessment of firefighters during rehabilitation.
GlobeCorp Rescue is pleased to offer a service in which a Fire Department can call on our trained Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs) to respond to prolonged incidents and training situations and provide a mobile medical unit to conduct this medical monitoring of firefighters. Once cleared to return to duty, the firefighter is provided with a clearance form that they can take back to accountability to show they have been cleared to return into the work rotation.
