Standard First Aid & CPR C
Comprehensive two-day course offering first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home. Course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines.
Certification: (Valid for 3 years)
In-class: 14 hours
Blended: 7.5 hours in-class + 8 hours online
Recertification:
In-class: 7.5 hours in-class
Blended: 4 hours in-class + 4 hours online
First Responder & BLS
Comprehensive first aid and CPR skills for professional
first responders or those training to become first
responders. Course teaches the patient assessment
model, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, hemorrhage
control, and care for a variety of acute and chronic
conditions. Participants will be engaged in dynamic
training techniques including video, media
presentations, skills demonstrations, practice sessions,
discussions and scenarios based on real-life situations.
Intended audience: Professionals in a fire service, rescue team, workplace
response team, sports-medicine professionals, lifeguards
and ski patrol.
Certification: (Valid for 3 years)
In-class: 40 hours
Recertification:
In-class: 20 hours
Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) & BLS
Participants will learn and demonstrate all knowledge
and skills needed to provide appropriate patient
assessments, interventions, and on-going care,
including the transportation of a patient to a healthcare
facility. Course content may vary depending on
jurisdictional requirements and, in addition, follows the
National Occupational Competency Profiles (NOCP)
as defined by the Paramedic Association of Canada.
Participants will be engaged in dynamic training
techniques including video, media presentations, skills
demonstrations, practice sessions, discussions and
scenarios based on real-life situations.
Intended audience: Professionals in emergency medical care who may
be responsible for initial assessments, the provision
of safe and prudent care, and the transport of a patient
to the most appropriate healthcare facility.
Certification: (Valid for 3 years)
Pre-requisite: Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
In-class: 80-120 hours
